1876: Carl Benteler opens ironware shop in Bielefeld
1916: Eduard Benteler (son) purchases engineering works
1918: First drawn tubes produced
1922: Benteler-Werke AG founded
1923: Production of seamless and welded tubes in Paderborn and Schloss Neuhaus begins
1930: Department for fabrication of masts and poles for lampposts created
1935: Exhaust pipes for the Ford Eifel go out as first order from automotive industry
1942: Erich Benteler (grandson) takes over a workforce of 2,000 employees
1945 - 1950: Brothers Erich and Helmut Benteler rebuild manufacturing facilities for railway, bicycle and automotive / textile finishing, plastic and glass processing 

1950: Production of Delta brand refrigerators begins
1951: New plant opens in Paderborn-Schloss Neuhaus for seamless hot-rolled tubes 
1952: Production of small car "Champion" in Paderborn-Moenkeloh begins (2,000 produced in total)
1955: Steel casting begins in Paderborn-Schloss Neuhaus 
1957: Röhren- und Stahllager, known today as BENTELER Distribution, is founded in Berlin
1958/59: Continuous vacuum casting introduced in plant at Paderborn 
1974: Modern electric steel mill begins operation in Lingen/Ems 
1976: BENTELER celebrates its 100th anniversary with more than 9,000 employees in Germany
1977: First axles produced in Paderborn 
1980: BENTELER expands to the US and opens metal forming production facilities
1987: BENTELER expands to Spain and opens automotive plant

1991: Hubertus Benteler (great grandson) becomes Chairman of the Executive Board 
1991: Begin of specialization in prefinished components for the automotive industry and just-in-time supply to automakers 
1992 - 1997: New plants in Mexico, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Great Britain, Italy and Argentina marks BENTELER Automotive’s increased international presence
1999: BENTELER becomes a management holding company with legally independent business divisions
2001: BENTELER Group celebrates its 125th anniversary with 17,000 employees worldwide as one of the 100 largest industrial companies in Germany   
2007: BENTELER Steel/Tube buys Rothrist Group, a Swiss company manufacturing welded precision steel tubes mainly for the automotive industry
2008: BENTELER Distribution establishes locations in Eastern Europe and founds local companies in Romania, Croatia, and Ukraine
2008: BENTELER's Rohrspatzen Day Care Center opens in Paderborn 
2008: BENTELER-SGL GmbH & Co. KG joint venture is founded in Paderborn, focusing on market components based on carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the automotive industry
2009: BENTELER-SGL GmbH & Co. KG acquires Austrian-based Fischer Composite Technologie GmbH in Ried to expand expertise in composite components for the automotive industry
